Madrid Highlights Diversity and Coexistence

A notable gathering in Madrid welcomed faith communities, cultural voices and social actors to celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity. The event, organised by Fundación Mejora at the national headquarters of Scientology in Madrid, focused on intercultural coexistence, religious freedom and respect. The round table included Clarisa Nieva of the Bahá’í Community of Spain, Fernando Hernández of the Madrid Municipal Police Diversity Management Unit, flamenco artist Tito Losada, a Roma guitarist and composer, and Denise González. Speakers presented reflections from faith, culture and public service on how open dialogue can reduce prejudice.

Throughout the gathering, participants addressed themes such as human rights, cultural identity and respect for differences. Fundación Mejora linked the initiative with Scientology’s focus on human dignity and social betterment. Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to European and international institutions, emphasised that cultural and religious diversity contributes to democratic life when rooted in respect for human rights.
